NNV Diamant

De NNV Diamant is de tweejaarlijkse prijs van de Nederlandse Natuurkundige Vereniging voor de instelling (onderzoek en onderwijs) die zich binnen de natuurkunde het meest onderscheidt in het ontwikkelen en toepassen van beleid rond diversiteit, inclusie en gelijkwaardigheid (DIG).
De prijs richt zich op instellingen die DIG niet alleen als ambitie formuleren, maar dit structureel hebben ingebed in beleid, organisatie en praktijk, met aantoonbare impact en breed intern draagvlak. Daarbij wordt specifiek gekeken naar hoe organisaties omgaan met gelijkwaardigheid in hun beleid en uitvoering, nu en in de toekomst.
Instellingen worden uitgenodigd om hun aanpak, ervaringen en resultaten te beschrijven. De inzendingen vormen de basis voor beoordeling door een deskundige jury, die onder meer let op structurele verankering, betrokkenheid binnen de organisatie, meetbaarheid van resultaten en de bijdrage aan een toegankelijkere en gelijkwaardigere natuurkundige gemeenschap.
Tijdlijn inzending en selectie
Instellingen kunnen hun aanmelding indienen in de periode van het voorjaar van 2026 tot en met 1 oktober 2026. Meer informatie hierover bij de NNV-directeur.
Na sluiting van de inzendtermijn volgt de eerste selectie door de jury in de zomer en vroege herfst. Op basis van de schriftelijke inzendingen wordt een shortlist samengesteld.
Tussen 9 en 22 november vinden jurybezoeken plaats aan maximaal drie geselecteerde instellingen. Hierbij spreekt de jury met management, staf en andere betrokkenen om een verdiepend beeld te krijgen van de praktijk.
De jury rondt haar beoordeling af in het najaar en doet een voorstel voor de winnaar aan het bestuur van de NNV. De uitreiking van de NNV Diamant vindt plaats tijdens NWO Physics op 19 en 20 januari 2027 te Veldhoven, Nederland.
De NNV Diamant is de opvolger van de NNV Diversiteitsprijs. De nieuwe naam is gekozen omdat een (geslepen) diamant onder meer symbool staat voor:
• De vele facetten van diversiteit
• Het vermogen de diversiteit aan kleuren in een lichtbundel te laten zien
• Een mooie, gelijkmatige en hechte structuur
• Een schitterend geheel
• De waarde van goed beleid op het gebied van gelijkwaardigheid en toegankelijkheid.
NNV Diamant - English
The NNV Diamant is the biennial award of the Nederlandse Natuurkundige Vereniging (NNV) granted to an institution (research and education) within physics that most distinguishes itself in developing and implementing policies on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
The award is intended for institutions that not only formulate DEI as an ambition, but have structurally embedded DEI in their policies, organisation, and daily practice, with demonstrable impact and broad internal support. Particular attention is given to how organisations address equity in both policy and implementation, now and in the future.
Institutions are invited to describe their approach, experiences, and results. The submissions serve as the basis for evaluation by an expert jury, which assesses, among other things, structural integration, organisational engagement, measurable outcomes, and the contribution to a more accessible and equitable physics community.
Submission and Selection Timeline
Institutions may submit their applications from spring 2026 until 1 October 2026. During this period, all submissions will be collected.
After the submission deadline closes, the jury will conduct an initial selection during the summer and early autumn. Based on the written submissions, a shortlist will be compiled.
Between 9 and 22 november, site visits and discussions will take place with a maximum of three shortlisted institutions. During these visits, the jury will speak with management, staff, and other stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of the institution’s practices.
The jury will finalize its evaluation in the autumn and submit a recommendation for the winner of the NNV Diamant to the board of the Nederlandse Natuurkundige Vereniging. The presentation of the NNV Diamant will take place during NWO Physics 2027 on 19 and 20 January 2027 in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.
The NNV Diamond is the successor to the NNV Diversity Award. The new name was chosen because a (cut) diamond symbolizes, among other things:
• The many facets of diversity
• The ability to reveal the diversity of colors in a beam of light
• A beautiful, uniform, and cohesive structure
• A dazzling unit
• The importance of sound policies on equity and accessibility.
