The biennial European Energy Conference series E2C, launched in 2010, will be held in Maastricht, The Netherlands, from April 17. - 20. 2012, at the Maastricht Exhibition and Conference Centre. The conference promotes, consolidates and communicates the vitally necessary synergy of scientific and technical competence in energy technologies with knowledge on environmental and social implications. The conference will provide participants with a view and a vision on how the future of energy in Europe could look like. It will be the forum to define the role of energy science and research in the transformation process towards the future sustainable European energy system.
The conference is organised by the European Science Foundation (ESF), the European Physical Society (EPS) and the European Materials Research Society (EMRS). It is under the Patronage of Günther H. Oettinger, the EU Commissioner for Energy.

The conference ICPS 2012 will take place from August 4 till 10.
